FOR SOUTHPORT DOGS
How Often Should Your Southport Dog Swim?
Most dogs from Southport settle into a weekly or fortnightly rhythm. Hydrotherapy and Weighty Woofers cases lean weekly. Fitness and fun-focused regulars often run fortnightly. There's no single right answer — only what fits your dog and your schedule.
The biggest mistake is treating swimming as a one-off treat. Real benefits — muscle, weight loss, joint comfort, behaviour — build with consistency, not intensity. A regular Southport swimmer outpaces an occasional one every time.
Zero Joint Impact
Water supports 90% of body weight, making swimming the safest form of exercise for dogs of all ages and conditions.
Year-Round Availability
Rain, snow, or heatwave — our indoor heated pool means your dog's exercise never depends on the weather.
Heated to 28–32°C
Our pool maintains a therapeutic temperature all year round — warm, clean, and comfortable for every breed and age.

Your Questions, Answered
"Do I need to book in advance?"
We recommend booking ahead as sessions fill up, especially evenings and weekends. Call 07359 881320, fill in our form, or email us. We try to accommodate short-notice bookings when possible.
"Is swimming tiring for dogs?"
Very! 30 minutes of swimming is equivalent to about 90 minutes of walking in terms of energy expenditure. Most dogs sleep soundly on the drive home to Southport and are calm all evening.
"What do I need to bring?"
Just your dog and a towel. If you're doing Owner In Pool, bring swimwear too. We provide life jackets, toys, and everything else needed. Free parking means you don't even need change for a meter.
"How do I know which session type is right?"
Owner In Pool if you want to swim with your dog. Group Classes for social, confident dogs. Swim Coach for nervous dogs, rehabilitation, or therapeutic sessions. Weighty Woofers for weight management. We're happy to recommend — just ask.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Got Questions? We've Got Answers
How warm is the pool?
Our pool is heated to between 28°C and 32°C — warmer than most human swimming pools. This temperature is ideal for dogs of all ages, from puppies to seniors.
What happens during the first session?
We'll do a quick health chat about your dog's breed, age, and any conditions. Then we introduce them to the pool gradually via the ramp. First-timers get extra settling-in time. Most dogs are swimming happily within minutes.
How do regular swimmers from Southport schedule their visits?
Most regular swimmers from Southport book a standing weekly or fortnightly slot. This ensures they get their preferred day and time. We're flexible with rescheduling when life gets in the way.
Can my dog swim if they've been neutered recently?
We recommend waiting at least 14 days after suture removal and getting the all-clear from your vet before swimming. The wound must be fully healed before entering the pool.
Is the pool suitable for puppies from Southport?
Yes! We accept puppies from 12 weeks old, after their second vaccination. Our gentle ramp entry and warm water make it the perfect environment for a puppy's first swim.
Are there any health conditions that prevent swimming?
Dogs with open wounds, active skin infections, untreated ear infections, or uncontrolled seizures should not swim until cleared by a vet. We're happy to advise if you're unsure about your dog's suitability.
Are there any dogs you can't accept?
We welcome all breeds and ages from 12 weeks. Dogs must be up to date on vaccinations. Dogs with open wounds, infectious conditions, or severe uncontrolled aggression may need to wait or have a vet consultation first.
