RECOMMENDED SESSION
For a doberman, we recommend the Swim Coach session
A trained team member is in the water with your doberman for the whole session — guiding depth, watching breathing, and adjusting the swim to what they can safely do.
WHY SWIM WITH A DOBERMAN?
The pool is built for a body like a doberman
Athletic but low body fat and cold-averse — our heated pool is ideally warm for a Dobie.
Dobermans are typically a very high-energy, working breed weighing 30–45kg and standing 63–72cm at the withers. Their very short single affects how they swim, how quickly they dry, and how the session runs.
- low-impact cardio for DCM-supervised dogs
- joint support
- fitness cross-training
HOW THE SESSION RUNS
Jacket, ramp, coach — what a doberman session looks like
Not automatically drawn to water, but a calm first session in our heated pool almost always turns Dobermans into willing swimmers.
Jacket first session, then optional; drying area is essential.
HEALTH CONDITIONS SWIMMING HELPS
Common Doberman health issues — and how the pool helps
cardiomyopathy (DCM)
Vet-cleared low-impact cardio; sessions capped by tolerance, not clock.
cervical vertebral instability
Supported swimming provides safe exercise while the underlying condition is managed.
hip dysplasia
Warm-water buoyancy removes 60–90% of joint load; resistance rebuilds supporting muscle.

FAQS
Doberman owner questions
Can dobermans actually swim in your pool?
Yes — every doberman we've had in the pool has swum. Athletic but low body fat and cold-averse — our heated pool is ideally warm for a Dobie. We work to the breed, not against it.
Does my doberman need a life jacket?
Jacket first session, then optional; drying area is essential.
How long is a session for a doberman?
Sessions are 30 minutes on the clock. Actual water time varies by dog — Dobermans often use the full 25–30 minutes of the water time comfortably.
What doberman health issues does swimming help with?
The conditions we see most in dobermans — cardiomyopathy (DCM), cervical vertebral instability, hip dysplasia — all benefit from warm-water swimming because buoyancy removes joint impact and 28–32°C water eases inflammation and stiffness.
How much does a doberman session cost?
£35 for an Owner In Pool session or £40 for a Swim Coach session (recommended for a doberman: Swim Coach). Every session is fully private — your dog never meets another dog in the pool.
How old should my doberman be to start?
From 12 weeks old, two weeks after the final puppy vaccination. Early positive water experience builds lifelong confidence — especially valuable for high-energy breeds like Dobermans.
