How to Organise a Group Dog Swim With Friends

For owners who want to bring friends' dogs along and share one private booking.

Swimming is more fun with company. If you have friends whose dogs already get on with yours, a group booking lets you share the pool, the car journey and the laughs, all within one private slot.

Here's how our Group Classes work and how to plan the visit so every dog enjoys it.

Several dogs swimming together in a private group session

Key points

  • Group Classes are a private 40-minute slot for up to four dogs.
  • Pricing starts at £35, with a coach and/or owners in the pool.
  • Only bring dogs that already know and like each other.

What a group booking is — and isn't

It isn't a class where you join strangers. You reserve the pool for your own little party of up to four dogs, and the water is yours for the full session. Either a swim coach, the owners, or both can be in the water.

That privacy matters. Dogs that are fine with their friends can be unsettled by unfamiliar dogs in a confined space, and a private slot removes that risk.

Choosing who comes

Pick dogs that already play happily together on walks. The pool is an exciting place, and excitement can tip a boisterous greeting into a squabble. If two dogs have ever had a disagreement, book them separately.

Mixed abilities are fine. A confident swimmer can show a beginner the way, but keep an eye on the less experienced dog so they aren't bowled over.

  • Up to four dogs per booking
  • Dogs should be friends before they arrive
  • Every dog must be up to date with vaccinations
  • Any dog with an infection or skin condition must stay home

Sorting out the practical side

Agree beforehand who is paying and how you'll split it, and make sure everyone knows the arrival time. Sessions start on time, so a late car can eat into everyone's swim. If someone is running behind, ring us early.

Parking is free, and there are toilets for people and dogs. Wetsuits and life jackets are provided, and there's a changing room if any owners want to get in the water.

Running the session smoothly

Let the dogs enter one or two at a time rather than all at once. Bring a toy for each dog to avoid arguments over a single ball, and give the quieter swimmers their own space. Take rests on the ramp — four excited dogs tire faster than you'd expect.

Afterwards, the drying area and a towel each will make the journey home far tidier.

Getting the most from the 40 minutes

Forty minutes goes quickly with several dogs. Agree a rough plan before you arrive: perhaps a gentle warm-up for everyone, a spell of games, then quieter time for any dog that needs extra help. Nominate one person to watch the clock so the last few minutes can be used for a calm finish rather than a scramble.

Photos and videos are part of the fun, but make sure someone is always watching the dogs rather than a phone screen. Our live video screens mean anyone staying dry can still follow every splash from the side.

Is a group swim right for your dog?

Group swims suit sociable dogs who are already comfortable in water or at least curious about it. A very nervous first-timer usually does better with a one-to-one Swim Coach Session first, then joins friends once they're confident.
