Dog Swimming for Rescue Dog Confidence
A private session with nobody else in the building is a rare thing for a rescue dog. Private 30-minute sessions in a heated indoor pool at Bretherton, Lancashire.
WHAT IT IS
Rescue Dog Confidence in plain English
Building trust and physical confidence in newly adopted dogs, many of whom arrive underweight, under-muscled or wary of new environments.
We are a canine swimming and hydro pool, not a veterinary practice — this page explains how our sessions fit alongside the care your vet provides.
WHY THE POOL HELPS
Why warm water suits this problem
A private session with nobody else in the building is a rare thing for a rescue dog. It is a controlled environment to build both physical condition and trust in you, at the dog's pace.
RECOMMENDED SESSION
We'd start with the Owner In Pool session
Whatever fits the settling-in period — many owners start fortnightly once the dog is comfortable at home.
Trust first, swimming second. In our experience that order works and the reverse does not.

Before you book
Give a new dog time to settle at home before adding a big new experience. If there is any resource guarding or handling difficulty, tell us when you book so we can plan the session properly.
QUESTIONS WE GET ASKED
Rescue Dog Confidence: your questions
How long should I wait after adopting before swimming?
Let them settle at home first — most owners find a few weeks makes the first visit far easier.
Is the session really private?
Yes. Unless you have booked a group class, it is your dog, your family and our team in the building.
