COMMON CONCERNS
The Issues Abram Dog Owners Talk to Us About
Bored & Under-Exercised
A tired dog is a happy dog. If your Abram pup is destructive, anxious, or pulling on walks, they're probably not getting enough exercise.
Cold Weather Stops Play
When Abram weather turns cold and wet, outdoor exercise drops off. Our heated indoor pool means fitness never stops.
Nowhere Safe to Swim
Rivers and lakes near Abram can be dangerous — strong currents, blue-green algae, hidden debris. Your dog deserves a safe, controlled environment.
Sound familiar? Swimming solves all of these — safely and enjoyably.

WHAT SETS US APART
Why Abram Owners Drive Past Other Pools to Reach Us
There are larger pools elsewhere in Greater Manchester, and some that are closer to certain parts of Abram. What brings owners to Bretherton is the combination — purpose-built for dogs, properly heated, genuinely private, and run by people who know each regular's dog by name.
Once you've experienced a fully private, fully focused 30-minute session, shared or rushed alternatives feel like a step backwards. That's the most common piece of feedback we get from Abram dog owners who tried elsewhere first.
Year-Round Availability
Rain, snow, or heatwave — our indoor heated pool means your dog's exercise never depends on the weather.
Crystal-Clear Water
Our water is continuously filtered and treated to the highest standards. No mud, no algae, no hidden hazards.
Full-Body Workout
Swimming engages every major muscle group simultaneously. 30 minutes in the pool equals 90 minutes of walking.

YOUR QUESTIONS
Common Questions From Abram
"How does this compare to a vet hydrotherapy centre?"
Our sessions are £35-40 compared to £50-80+ at vet hydrotherapy centres. Our pool is the same quality — heated, filtered, purpose-built. For dogs needing rehabilitation, we're happy to work alongside your vet.
"Do I need to book in advance?"
We recommend booking ahead as sessions fill up, especially evenings and weekends. Call 07359 881320, fill in our form, or email us. We try to accommodate short-notice bookings when possible.
"How much does it cost?"
Sessions start from just £35 for Owner In Pool and Group Classes, and £40 for Swim Coach and Weighty Woofers. Compare that to a vet hydrotherapy session at £50–80+ and you're getting outstanding value.
"What if my dog doesn't like it?"
In our experience, the vast majority of dogs take to our warm pool quickly. We never force dogs into the water — they enter at their own pace via a gentle ramp. The warm temperature makes it inviting rather than intimidating.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Abram Dog Swimming — Your Questions Answered
Will my dog be the only one in the pool?
Yes. Every session is fully private. Your Abram dog never meets another dog during their swim, which is why we're a popular choice for reactive or anxious dogs.
Is the pool suitable for puppies from Abram?
Yes! We accept puppies from 12 weeks old, after their second vaccination. Our gentle ramp entry and warm water make it the perfect environment for a puppy's first swim.
What happens during the first session?
We'll do a quick health chat about your dog's breed, age, and any conditions. Then we introduce them to the pool gradually via the ramp. First-timers get extra settling-in time. Most dogs are swimming happily within minutes.
Is swimming better than walking for dogs?
Swimming burns approximately 5 times more calories than walking and builds muscle 15 times more efficiently — all with zero joint impact. It's particularly beneficial for overweight, arthritic, or recovering dogs.
Can I buy a package of sessions?
Yes — we offer multi-session packages at a discount. Ask us when you book or call 07359 881320 for current offers. Regular swimmers from Abram often find packages the best value.
What should I bring for my dog's first swim?
Just your dog and a towel — we supply everything else including life jackets and toys. If you're joining in an Owner In Pool session, bring swimwear too. We have a drying area on site.
What's the difference between Swim Coach and Owner In Pool?
In Owner In Pool sessions, you get in the water with your dog. In Swim Coach sessions, one of our trained team members is in the pool guiding your dog — ideal for rehabilitation, nervous dogs, or when you'd rather watch from poolside.
