DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

What's Holding Your Greenhalgh Dog Back?

Risk of Re-Injury

Returning to normal exercise too soon risks re-injury. Swimming provides intense rehabilitation in a completely controlled, zero-impact environment.

Lost Cardiovascular Fitness

Weeks of rest decondition the heart and lungs. Swimming rebuilds cardiovascular fitness safely alongside muscular rehabilitation.

Compensation Injuries

Dogs recovering from leg surgery often overload other limbs. Swimming works all four legs equally, preventing secondary injuries.

Expensive vet bills and medication only manage symptoms. Swimming addresses the root cause.

SERVING GREENHALGH, LANCASHIRE

What to Expect in Your Greenhalgh Dog's First Rehab Session

We start with a full review of your vet's discharge notes, a careful poolside assessment, and a short, gentle introduction to the water. Most first sessions are kept brief — we'd rather under-do it and build up than push too hard early. Recovery is a marathon, not a sprint.

From session two onward we increase duration and intensity based on how your dog has responded. Many Greenhalgh owners say the difference after just three or four sessions is striking — better limb use, restored confidence, and the first signs of muscle returning.

Pain-Free Rehabilitation

Warm water (28–32°C) provides natural pain relief during exercise, making rehabilitation sessions comfortable rather than stressful.

Range of Motion Restoration

Water allows gradual, controlled joint movement that restores range of motion lost during immobilisation.

Progress Monitoring

We track your dog's recovery at each session — range of motion, endurance, muscle development — and share updates with your vet.

WHY DOG OWNERS VISIT US

What Greenhalgh Dog Owners Come to Us For

Soft Tissue Injury Recovery

Tendon, ligament, and muscle injuries heal better with controlled exercise. Water provides resistance without the impact of land work.

Vet-Coordinated Recovery Programmes

We work alongside your Lancashire vet's recovery plan, providing progress updates and adjusting sessions to match the surgical timeline.

Amputation Adaptation

Three-legged dogs need to build compensatory muscle quickly. Swimming develops core, shoulders, and remaining limbs in a balanced way.

Hip Replacement Recovery

After total hip replacement, controlled swimming restores range of motion and rebuilds the gluteal muscles essential for normal gait.

Fracture Recovery

Once fixation has healed, swimming rebuilds the muscle wasted during immobilisation — much faster than walking allows.

Tailored Rehabilitation for Greenhalgh Dogs

Every recovery is different. We adjust session length, intensity, and supervision based on your dog's surgery, healing stage, and confidence. From cruciate repairs to spinal procedures — we've helped dogs from across Lancashire return to full function.

Spinal Surgery Patients

Hemilaminectomy and other spinal procedures recover faster with the supported, controlled movement water provides.

Post-Cruciate Surgery Owners

TPLO, TTA, and lateral suture recoveries are our most common rehab cases. Vets across Lancashire refer here specifically.

YOUR QUESTIONS

Your Questions, Answered

"How do I know which session type is right?"

Owner In Pool if you want to swim with your dog. Group Classes for social, confident dogs. Swim Coach for nervous dogs, rehabilitation, or therapeutic sessions. Weighty Woofers for weight management. We're happy to recommend — just ask.

"Is the pool big enough for large breeds?"

Absolutely. We welcome everything from Chihuahuas to Great Danes. The pool has adjustable depths and ample space for even the largest breeds to swim comfortably.

"Is it really better than outdoor swimming?"

Night and day. Our pool is heated to 28–32°C, filtered and treated for hygiene, has no currents or hidden hazards, and is available all year round regardless of weather. Plus it's completely private — no other dogs to stress yours.

"How much does it cost?"

Sessions start from just £35 for Owner In Pool and Group Classes, and £40 for Swim Coach and Weighty Woofers. Compare that to a vet hydrotherapy session at £50–80+ and you're getting outstanding value.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Your Greenhalgh Swimming Questions, Answered

Will my dog regain full function after surgery with swimming?

While outcomes depend on the surgery and individual dog, swimming significantly improves the chances of full recovery. We've seen many dogs return to normal activity levels through consistent swimming rehabilitation.

How soon after surgery can my dog start swimming?

Most vets recommend starting 10–14 days after suture removal, once wounds are fully healed. We always require vet clearance before beginning any post-surgical swimming programme.

My dog's recovery has stalled — can swimming help?

Stalled recovery is one of the most common reasons vets refer dogs to us. Swimming breaks through recovery plateaus by providing exercise that's impossible on land for a recovering dog.

How does swimming prevent re-injury during recovery?

Water provides a completely controlled environment — no sudden movements, no jumping, no uneven terrain. Your dog gets intense exercise while the water protects healing tissues.

What if my dog is still in pain after surgery?

Warm water (28–32°C) actually helps manage post-surgical pain by increasing blood flow, reducing muscle tension, and providing gentle movement. Many dogs are visibly more comfortable after swimming.

Can swimming help after amputation?

Yes — swimming is excellent for amputee dogs. It helps them build compensatory muscle, improve balance and coordination, and maintain cardiovascular fitness without overloading remaining limbs.

What if my dog is in too much pain to swim?

We assess on arrival. If swimming would push them, we use the ramp and shallow walking instead. Nothing is forced for any rehab dog from Greenhalgh.
