THE PROBLEM
Problems Swimming Solves for Greenhalgh Dogs
Limited Socialisation
Young dogs need new experiences. Our calm, controlled pool environment is perfect for building confidence in a safe setting.
Too Much Energy
Puppy zoomies driving you mad? Swimming channels all that energy into controlled exercise — they'll sleep like a log afterwards.
Destructive Puppy Behaviour
Chewing, nipping, and destruction are signs of excess energy. A 30-minute swim leaves puppies calm, satisfied, and ready to rest.
Expensive vet bills and medication only manage symptoms. Swimming addresses the root cause.

WHAT SETS US APART
When Is It Too Early — or Too Late — to Start?
We take puppies from 12 weeks, once the second vaccination course is complete. Before that, the immune system isn't ready for any shared-water environment, no matter how clean. We won't bend that rule for anyone in Greenhalgh or beyond — it's there for the puppy.
There's no firm 'too late' — older puppies and even adult dogs can absolutely learn to swim. But the easiest window closes around 6 months. Greenhalgh owners who start in the 12-to-26-week range almost always end up with the most confident water-loving dogs.
Gentle Ramp Entry
No jumping or lifting required. Puppies walk into the water at their own pace via our gradual ramp entry.
Swim With Your Puppy
Owner In Pool sessions let you get in the water with your puppy — a bonding experience they'll remember.
Coordination Development
Swimming develops proprioception and body awareness in puppies, helping them become more coordinated on land too.

GOOD TO KNOW
What Greenhalgh Dog Owners Want to Know
"Will swimming make my puppy too tired for training?"
A well-exercised puppy is actually more trainable — they're calmer, more focused, and less distracted. Many Greenhalgh puppy owners find training sessions go much better after a swim.
"Do you offer discounts for regular swimmers from Greenhalgh?"
Yes — we offer multi-session packages at a discount for regular swimmers. Ask about our package deals when you book. Many Greenhalgh dog owners find monthly packages the best value.
"What do I need to bring?"
Just your dog and a towel. If you're doing Owner In Pool, bring swimwear too. We provide life jackets, toys, and everything else needed. Free parking means you don't even need change for a meter.
"What if my dog doesn't like it?"
In our experience, the vast majority of dogs take to our warm pool quickly. We never force dogs into the water — they enter at their own pace via a gentle ramp. The warm temperature makes it inviting rather than intimidating.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Greenhalgh Dog Swimming — Your Questions Answered
Why should I start my puppy swimming early?
Puppies introduced to water between 12 weeks and 6 months develop lifelong water confidence. Early swimming also provides excellent exercise for growing muscles without the joint impact of running.
Can I bring multiple puppies from the same litter?
Yes — our Owner In Pool sessions allow up to 4 dogs. Litter mates often love swimming together and it's great for socialisation in a controlled, safe environment.
Is the pool heated enough for puppies?
Our pool temperature of 28–32°C is warmer than most human pools. This prevents cold shock and keeps puppies comfortable throughout their session.
My puppy is fully vaccinated — when can we start?
From 12 weeks, 2 weeks after the final vaccination. Most Greenhalgh puppies start between 14 and 20 weeks while the socialisation window is still wide open.
How long should a puppy's first swim be?
We keep first swims short — often 10–15 minutes of actual water time inside the 30-minute slot. Puppies from Greenhalgh tire faster than adult dogs; we always err on the gentle side.
What breeds take to swimming best as puppies?
Water breeds like Labradors and Spaniels often take to it naturally, but we've successfully introduced every breed imaginable. Even breeds not known for swimming — Bulldogs, Dachshunds, Greyhounds — can learn to love it with gentle introduction.
Will my puppy be safe with a life jacket?
Yes — we size the jacket to your puppy and someone is in the water the whole time. No puppy from Greenhalgh has ever been left to fend for themselves in the pool.
