IS YOUR DOG STRUGGLING?
What Most Clifton Dog Owners Don't Realise
Stiff Joints & Slowing Down
Older dogs in Clifton often slow down because walks hurt their joints. Swimming gives them exercise without the pain.
Bored & Under-Exercised
A tired dog is a happy dog. If your Clifton pup is destructive, anxious, or pulling on walks, they're probably not getting enough exercise.
Weight Creeping Up
Over half of UK dogs are overweight. If your dog's waistline has disappeared, swimming burns 5x more calories than walking — with zero joint impact.
Expensive vet bills and medication only manage symptoms. Swimming addresses the root cause.

COMMON CONCERNS
Your Questions, Answered
"What if my dog can't swim at all?"
Many dogs who visit us have never swum before — that's perfectly fine. We use life jackets, gradual ramp entry, and gentle encouragement. Swimming is a natural instinct for most dogs; they just need the right introduction.
"Is swimming tiring for dogs?"
Very! 30 minutes of swimming is equivalent to about 90 minutes of walking in terms of energy expenditure. Most dogs sleep soundly on the drive home to Clifton and are calm all evening.
"Do you offer discounts for regular swimmers from Clifton?"
Yes — we offer multi-session packages at a discount for regular swimmers. Ask about our package deals when you book. Many Clifton dog owners find monthly packages the best value.
"What do I need to bring?"
Just your dog and a towel. If you're doing Owner In Pool, bring swimwear too. We provide life jackets, toys, and everything else needed. Free parking means you don't even need change for a meter.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Everything You Need to Know
Can I bring two dogs from the same household?
Yes — up to four dogs from the same household in an Owner In Pool session. Multi-dog Clifton families often find this the most cost-effective way to swim regularly.
Do I need a vet referral?
No referral is needed for general swimming sessions. However, if your dog has a specific medical condition, we recommend consulting your vet first. Many vets across Lancashire actively refer to us.
Can I swim with my dog?
Absolutely! Our Owner In Pool sessions let you get in the water with your dog. It's a fantastic bonding experience. Just bring your swimwear and a towel — we supply everything else.
How wet will my car be on the way back to Clifton?
Hardly at all. We have a dedicated drying area on site and most dogs are touch-dry before they leave. Bring a towel for the back seat just in case.
Is there parking at the pool?
Yes — free parking right by the entrance at Pompian Brow Farm, Bretherton, PR26 9AQ. Easy access from Clifton.
Do you have experience with large breeds?
We regularly swim Great Danes, Newfoundlands, Irish Wolfhounds, and other giant breeds. Our pool is designed to accommodate dogs of all sizes with plenty of room to move.
Is swimming better than walking for dogs?
Swimming burns approximately 5 times more calories than walking and builds muscle 15 times more efficiently — all with zero joint impact. It's particularly beneficial for overweight, arthritic, or recovering dogs.
