COMMON CONCERNS
Why Hoddlesden Dog Owners Are Choosing Swimming
Cold Weather Stops Play
When Hoddlesden weather turns cold and wet, outdoor exercise drops off. Our heated indoor pool means fitness never stops.
Breed-Specific Exercise Needs
Working breeds, sporting dogs, and high-energy breeds in Hoddlesden need more than standard walks. Swimming provides the intensity they crave.
Stiff Joints & Slowing Down
Older dogs in Hoddlesden often slow down because walks hurt their joints. Swimming gives them exercise without the pain.
Expensive vet bills and medication only manage symptoms. Swimming addresses the root cause.

THE DIFFERENCE
Why Hoddlesden Owners Drive Past Other Pools to Reach Us
There are larger pools elsewhere in Lancashire, and some that are closer to certain parts of Hoddlesden. What brings owners to Bretherton is the combination — purpose-built for dogs, properly heated, genuinely private, and run by people who know each regular's dog by name.
Once you've experienced a fully private, fully focused 30-minute session, shared or rushed alternatives feel like a step backwards. That's the most common piece of feedback we get from Hoddlesden dog owners who tried elsewhere first.
Gentle Ramp Entry
Dogs enter via a gradual ramp — no jumping required. Perfect for nervous first-timers and dogs with mobility issues.

From tiny Chihuahuas to giant Great Danes, we cater for every breed with adjustable depths and gentle ramp entry.
Crystal-Clear Water
Our water is continuously filtered and treated to the highest standards. No mud, no algae, no hidden hazards.

WE HEAR YOU
Common Questions From Hoddlesden
"How does this compare to a vet hydrotherapy centre?"
Our sessions are £35-40 compared to £50-80+ at vet hydrotherapy centres. Our pool is the same quality — heated, filtered, purpose-built. For dogs needing rehabilitation, we're happy to work alongside your vet.
"What happens if my dog has an accident in the pool?"
It happens and it's not a problem! Our filtration system handles it quickly and we're well prepared. We ask that dogs are walked before sessions and we recommend not feeding them within 2 hours of swimming.
"How much does it cost?"
Sessions start from just £35 for Owner In Pool and Group Classes, and £40 for Swim Coach and Weighty Woofers. Compare that to a vet hydrotherapy session at £50–80+ and you're getting outstanding value.
"Is one session enough to see results?"
Most dogs show visible improvement in mood and energy after just one session. For therapeutic or weight-loss goals, we recommend weekly sessions for 6–8 weeks to see transformative results.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Everything You Need to Know
What's the difference between Swim Coach and Owner In Pool?
In Owner In Pool sessions, you get in the water with your dog. In Swim Coach sessions, one of our trained team members is in the pool guiding your dog — ideal for rehabilitation, nervous dogs, or when you'd rather watch from poolside.
Do you offer group sessions for dogs from Hoddlesden?
Yes! Our Group Classes at £35 per session are great for socialised dogs. You can bring up to 4 dogs in an Owner In Pool session too — perfect for multi-dog households in Hoddlesden.
Can my dog swim if they've been neutered recently?
We recommend waiting at least 14 days after suture removal and getting the all-clear from your vet before swimming. The wound must be fully healed before entering the pool.
Are there any dogs you can't accept?
We welcome all breeds and ages from 12 weeks. Dogs must be up to date on vaccinations. Dogs with open wounds, infectious conditions, or severe uncontrolled aggression may need to wait or have a vet consultation first.
Do you have experience with large breeds?
We regularly swim Great Danes, Newfoundlands, Irish Wolfhounds, and other giant breeds. Our pool is designed to accommodate dogs of all sizes with plenty of room to move.
What's the best time of day to swim from Hoddlesden?
Quietest slots tend to be weekday mornings. Evenings and weekends book up fastest — Hoddlesden owners working 9-to-5 should book 1-2 weeks ahead for those.
Is the pool available for birthday parties or special occasions?
We love celebrating milestones! Contact us about special occasion bookings. Many Hoddlesden dog owners book celebration swims for birthdays or adoption anniversaries.
