THE PROBLEM
Common Challenges Downholland Dog Owners Face
Repetitive Exercise Injuries
Dogs who only walk or run develop overuse injuries. Swimming provides cross-training that builds balanced strength and prevents strain.
Post-Surgery Blues
Recovering dogs need to rebuild muscle, but too much walking risks re-injury. Swimming is the vet-recommended solution.
Bored & Under-Exercised
A tired dog is a happy dog. If your Downholland pup is destructive, anxious, or pulling on walks, they're probably not getting enough exercise.
Sound familiar? Swimming solves all of these — safely and enjoyably.

Why Downholland Owners Drive Past Other Pools to Reach Us
There are larger pools elsewhere in Lancashire, and some that are closer to certain parts of Downholland. What brings owners to Bretherton is the combination — purpose-built for dogs, properly heated, genuinely private, and run by people who know each regular's dog by name.
Once you've experienced a fully private, fully focused 30-minute session, shared or rushed alternatives feel like a step backwards. That's the most common piece of feedback we get from Downholland dog owners who tried elsewhere first.
All Breeds Welcome
From tiny Chihuahuas to giant Great Danes, we cater for every breed with adjustable depths and gentle ramp entry.
Completely Private Sessions
No crowded pools, no stressed dogs — just your dog getting our full attention in a calm, controlled environment.
Gentle Ramp Entry
Dogs enter via a gradual ramp — no jumping required. Perfect for nervous first-timers and dogs with mobility issues.

COMMON CONCERNS
What Downholland Dog Owners Want to Know
"How do I know which session type is right?"
Owner In Pool if you want to swim with your dog. Group Classes for social, confident dogs. Swim Coach for nervous dogs, rehabilitation, or therapeutic sessions. Weighty Woofers for weight management. We're happy to recommend — just ask.
"What if my dog is scared of water?"
We specialise in nervous swimmers. Our gentle ramp entry lets dogs walk in at their own pace, the warm water is inviting rather than shocking, and our experienced team has helped hundreds of first-timers. Most dogs are swimming happily by the end of session one.
"How does this compare to a vet hydrotherapy centre?"
Our sessions are £35-40 compared to £50-80+ at vet hydrotherapy centres. Our pool is the same quality — heated, filtered, purpose-built. For dogs needing rehabilitation, we're happy to work alongside your vet.
"Is the pool big enough for large breeds?"
Absolutely. We welcome everything from Chihuahuas to Great Danes. The pool has adjustable depths and ample space for even the largest breeds to swim comfortably.
