WHY DOGS NEED MORE
Hidden Limits of Exercise for Up Holland Dogs
Behavioural Problems at Home
Chewing, barking, digging — these are often signs of under-exercise. Dogs from Up Holland who swim regularly are calmer and better behaved.
Bored & Under-Exercised
A tired dog is a happy dog. If your Up Holland pup is destructive, anxious, or pulling on walks, they're probably not getting enough exercise.
Nowhere Safe to Swim
Rivers and lakes near Up Holland can be dangerous — strong currents, blue-green algae, hidden debris. Your dog deserves a safe, controlled environment.
Sound familiar? Swimming solves all of these — safely and enjoyably.

How Often Should Your Up Holland Dog Swim?
Most dogs from Up Holland settle into a weekly or fortnightly rhythm. Hydrotherapy and Weighty Woofers cases lean weekly. Fitness and fun-focused regulars often run fortnightly. There's no single right answer — only what fits your dog and your schedule.
The biggest mistake is treating swimming as a one-off treat. Real benefits — muscle, weight loss, joint comfort, behaviour — build with consistency, not intensity. A regular Up Holland swimmer outpaces an occasional one every time.
Completely Private Sessions
No crowded pools, no stressed dogs — just your dog getting our full attention in a calm, controlled environment.
Crystal-Clear Water
Our water is continuously filtered and treated to the highest standards. No mud, no algae, no hidden hazards.
Heated to 28–32°C
Our pool maintains a therapeutic temperature all year round — warm, clean, and comfortable for every breed and age.

YOUR QUESTIONS
Concerns? Let Us Put Your Mind at Rest
"How does this compare to a vet hydrotherapy centre?"
Our sessions are £35-40 compared to £50-80+ at vet hydrotherapy centres. Our pool is the same quality — heated, filtered, purpose-built. For dogs needing rehabilitation, we're happy to work alongside your vet.
"What do I need to bring?"
Just your dog and a towel. If you're doing Owner In Pool, bring swimwear too. We provide life jackets, toys, and everything else needed. Free parking means you don't even need change for a meter.
"What if my dog is scared of water?"
We specialise in nervous swimmers. Our gentle ramp entry lets dogs walk in at their own pace, the warm water is inviting rather than shocking, and our experienced team has helped hundreds of first-timers. Most dogs are swimming happily by the end of session one.
"Is it suitable for rescue dogs?"
We've helped dozens of rescue dogs build water confidence. Our private, calm environment is ideal for dogs who may be nervous or have unknown histories. We go at their pace, with patience and kindness.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Got Questions? We've Got Answers
Are there any dogs you can't accept?
We welcome all breeds and ages from 12 weeks. Dogs must be up to date on vaccinations. Dogs with open wounds, infectious conditions, or severe uncontrolled aggression may need to wait or have a vet consultation first.
Do I need a vet referral?
No referral is needed for general swimming sessions. However, if your dog has a specific medical condition, we recommend consulting your vet first. Many vets across Lancashire actively refer to us.
Do you have changing facilities?
We have a drying area for dogs and space for you to change if you've been in the pool during an Owner In Pool session. We also have towels available.
Is the pool chlorinated?
We use a professional water treatment system that keeps the water crystal-clear and hygienic without harsh chemical smells. Our system is far gentler on dogs' skin and eyes than traditional chlorinated pools.
Is Up Holland actually closer than the next nearest pool?
From most Up Holland postcodes you're around 15 minutes to us via the M6. The next nearest comparable heated dog pool is materially further — and rarely as quiet or as private.
What should I bring for my dog's first swim?
Just your dog and a towel — we supply everything else including life jackets and toys. If you're joining in an Owner In Pool session, bring swimwear too. We have a drying area on site.
How warm is the pool?
Our pool is heated to between 28°C and 32°C — warmer than most human swimming pools. This temperature is ideal for dogs of all ages, from puppies to seniors.
