THE PROBLEM
Why Walks Alone Aren't Enough for Wiswell Dogs
Cold Weather Stops Play
When Wiswell weather turns cold and wet, outdoor exercise drops off. Our heated indoor pool means fitness never stops.
Hot Weather Exercise Limits
Summer heat makes exercising dogs from Wiswell risky. Our temperature-controlled indoor pool is safe and comfortable in any weather.
Separation Anxiety
Dogs who don't burn enough energy develop anxiety. A 30-minute swim leaves dogs calm, content, and ready to relax at home.
Sound familiar? Swimming solves all of these — safely and enjoyably.

WHAT SETS US APART
Why Wiswell Owners Drive Past Other Pools to Reach Us
There are larger pools elsewhere in Lancashire, and some that are closer to certain parts of Wiswell. What brings owners to Bretherton is the combination — purpose-built for dogs, properly heated, genuinely private, and run by people who know each regular's dog by name.
Once you've experienced a fully private, fully focused 30-minute session, shared or rushed alternatives feel like a step backwards. That's the most common piece of feedback we get from Wiswell dog owners who tried elsewhere first.
Completely Private Sessions
No crowded pools, no stressed dogs — just your dog getting our full attention in a calm, controlled environment.
Free Parking On Site
Pull up right next to the pool entrance at Pompian Brow Farm. No parking charges, no long walks from the car.
All Breeds Welcome
From tiny Chihuahuas to giant Great Danes, we cater for every breed with adjustable depths and gentle ramp entry.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS
Questions Wiswell Dog Owners Ask
"Is the pool big enough for large breeds?"
Absolutely. We welcome everything from Chihuahuas to Great Danes. The pool has adjustable depths and ample space for even the largest breeds to swim comfortably.
"Is it really better than outdoor swimming?"
Night and day. Our pool is heated to 28–32°C, filtered and treated for hygiene, has no currents or hidden hazards, and is available all year round regardless of weather. Plus it's completely private — no other dogs to stress yours.
"How much does it cost?"
Sessions start from just £35 for Owner In Pool and Group Classes, and £40 for Swim Coach and Weighty Woofers. Compare that to a vet hydrotherapy session at £50–80+ and you're getting outstanding value.
"Can I bring more than one dog from Wiswell?"
Yes! Our Owner In Pool sessions welcome up to 4 dogs. Multi-dog households from Wiswell love bringing all their dogs for a group swim. Same price per session regardless of dog numbers.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Wiswell Dog Swimming — Your Questions Answered
What's the difference between Swim Coach and Owner In Pool?
In Owner In Pool sessions, you get in the water with your dog. In Swim Coach sessions, one of our trained team members is in the pool guiding your dog — ideal for rehabilitation, nervous dogs, or when you'd rather watch from poolside.
Is the pool chlorinated?
We use a professional water treatment system that keeps the water crystal-clear and hygienic without harsh chemical smells. Our system is far gentler on dogs' skin and eyes than traditional chlorinated pools.
Is swimming suitable for all dog breeds?
Yes — from tiny Chihuahuas to giant Great Danes, we cater for every breed. We adjust pool depth and use life jackets for brachycephalic breeds like French Bulldogs and Pugs.
Is the pool suitable for puppies from Wiswell?
Yes! We accept puppies from 12 weeks old, after their second vaccination. Our gentle ramp entry and warm water make it the perfect environment for a puppy's first swim.
Do I need a vet referral?
No referral is needed for general swimming sessions. However, if your dog has a specific medical condition, we recommend consulting your vet first. Many vets across Lancashire actively refer to us.
What should I bring for my dog's first swim?
Just your dog and a towel — we supply everything else including life jackets and toys. If you're joining in an Owner In Pool session, bring swimwear too. We have a drying area on site.
What if my dog is nervous about water?
We specialise in nervous swimmers. Our gentle ramp lets dogs walk in at their own pace, the warm water is inviting rather than shocking, and our team has helped hundreds of first-timers. Most dogs swim confidently by session one or two.
