THE PROBLEM
Problems Swimming Solves for Wray Dogs
Nowhere Safe to Swim
Rivers and lakes near Wray can be dangerous — strong currents, blue-green algae, hidden debris. Your dog deserves a safe, controlled environment.
Ageing Without Support
Senior dogs in Wray deserve better than shortened walks and a life on the sofa. Swimming keeps them mobile, engaged, and comfortable.
Post-Surgery Blues
Recovering dogs need to rebuild muscle, but too much walking risks re-injury. Swimming is the vet-recommended solution.
Sound familiar? Swimming solves all of these — safely and enjoyably.

SERVING WRAY, LANCASHIRE
What a Typical Session Looks Like for a Wray Dog
You arrive at our Bretherton site after a 35-minute drive from Wray, park metres from the pool door, and we'll meet you and your dog at reception. New dogs get a short, calm introduction to the pool environment before anything else happens.
Once your dog is comfortable, we walk them down the gentle ramp into 28–32°C water. The full 30 minutes belongs to your dog — no shared sessions, no clock-watching. We finish with a towel-off, a debrief, and you're on your way.
Mental Stimulation
The sensory experience of swimming — water pressure, temperature, movement — provides intense mental engagement alongside physical exercise.
Full-Body Workout
Swimming engages every major muscle group simultaneously. 30 minutes in the pool equals 90 minutes of walking.
All Breeds Welcome
From tiny Chihuahuas to giant Great Danes, we cater for every breed with adjustable depths and gentle ramp entry.

GOOD TO KNOW
What Wray Dog Owners Want to Know
"Is it really better than outdoor swimming?"
Night and day. Our pool is heated to 28–32°C, filtered and treated for hygiene, has no currents or hidden hazards, and is available all year round regardless of weather. Plus it's completely private — no other dogs to stress yours.
"Is swimming tiring for dogs?"
Very! 30 minutes of swimming is equivalent to about 90 minutes of walking in terms of energy expenditure. Most dogs sleep soundly on the drive home to Wray and are calm all evening.
"Is the water clean and safe?"
Our water is continuously filtered and treated to exceed hygiene standards. It's crystal-clear at all times — far cleaner and safer than any river, lake, or outdoor dog pool you'll find near Wray.
"What if my dog can't swim at all?"
Many dogs who visit us have never swum before — that's perfectly fine. We use life jackets, gradual ramp entry, and gentle encouragement. Swimming is a natural instinct for most dogs; they just need the right introduction.
WHAT DOG OWNERS SAY
Why Dog Owners Keep Coming Back
"We were amazed at the facilities — a proper heated pool with knowledgeable staff who genuinely care about the dogs. Well worth the drive from anywhere in Lancashire."

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Got Questions? We've Got Answers
Is the pool available for birthday parties or special occasions?
We love celebrating milestones! Contact us about special occasion bookings. Many Wray dog owners book celebration swims for birthdays or adoption anniversaries.
What if my dog is nervous about water?
We specialise in nervous swimmers. Our gentle ramp lets dogs walk in at their own pace, the warm water is inviting rather than shocking, and our team has helped hundreds of first-timers. Most dogs swim confidently by session one or two.
Is swimming suitable for all dog breeds?
Yes — from tiny Chihuahuas to giant Great Danes, we cater for every breed. We adjust pool depth and use life jackets for brachycephalic breeds like French Bulldogs and Pugs.
What happens during the first session?
We'll do a quick health chat about your dog's breed, age, and any conditions. Then we introduce them to the pool gradually via the ramp. First-timers get extra settling-in time. Most dogs are swimming happily within minutes.
What are the health benefits of dog swimming?
Swimming provides cardiovascular fitness, muscle building, weight management, joint rehabilitation, mental stimulation, and improved range of motion — all with zero impact on joints. It's the most complete exercise available for dogs.
What should I bring for my dog's first swim?
Just your dog and a towel — we supply everything else including life jackets and toys. If you're joining in an Owner In Pool session, bring swimwear too. We have a drying area on site.
Can my dog swim if they've been neutered recently?
We recommend waiting at least 14 days after suture removal and getting the all-clear from your vet before swimming. The wound must be fully healed before entering the pool.
