DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?
What Most Haydock Dog Owners Don't Realise
Too Much Energy
Puppy zoomies driving you mad? Swimming channels all that energy into controlled exercise — they'll sleep like a log afterwards.
Fear of Water
Puppies in Haydock who aren't introduced to water early often develop lifelong fear. Our gentle first-swim sessions prevent this.
Breed Fear of Water
Some breeds have a reputation for disliking water. With gentle introduction in warm water, we've successfully taught every breed to swim.
Expensive vet bills and medication only manage symptoms. Swimming addresses the root cause.

OUR POOL
When Is It Too Early — or Too Late — to Start?
We take puppies from 12 weeks, once the second vaccination course is complete. Before that, the immune system isn't ready for any shared-water environment, no matter how clean. We won't bend that rule for anyone in Haydock or beyond — it's there for the puppy.
There's no firm 'too late' — older puppies and even adult dogs can absolutely learn to swim. But the easiest window closes around 6 months. Haydock owners who start in the 12-to-26-week range almost always end up with the most confident water-loving dogs.
Safe Water Introduction
Our calm, private pool is the perfect environment for a puppy's first swim — no waves, no currents, just gentle warm water.
Coordination Development
Swimming develops proprioception and body awareness in puppies, helping them become more coordinated on land too.
Healthy Exercise Habit
Starting young means your dog grows up associating swimming with fun — making fitness easy for their entire life.
Don't Let Haydock's Weather Stop Your Dog's Exercise
Our heated indoor pool means rain, cold, or heat never cancels your dog's workout. Open 7 days, from £35.

YOUR QUESTIONS
What to Know Before Your First Visit From Haydock
"Will swimming make my puppy too tired for training?"
A well-exercised puppy is actually more trainable — they're calmer, more focused, and less distracted. Many Haydock puppy owners find training sessions go much better after a swim.
"Is my puppy too young to swim?"
We accept puppies from 12 weeks (after second vaccination). This is actually the ideal age to start — puppies in this window learn fastest and develop the strongest water confidence.
"What ages of dog do you accept?"
From 12-week-old puppies (after second vaccination) to senior dogs of any age. We adjust every session to your dog's ability. Some of our most enthusiastic swimmers are well into their teens!
"Do you offer discounts for regular swimmers from Haydock?"
Yes — we offer multi-session packages at a discount for regular swimmers. Ask about our package deals when you book. Many Haydock dog owners find monthly packages the best value.
WHAT DOG OWNERS SAY
Real Merseyside Owners, Real Results
"Brilliant for our working cocker who does agility. The swimming keeps her fit, builds strength in muscle groups that agility alone doesn't work, and she adores it."
James H.
Working Cocker Spaniel, 4 years
"Three dogs, one Owner In Pool session — it's chaos but brilliant chaos. All three of them absolutely love it and the staff handle the madness brilliantly."
Pete & Anne Y.
Three Mixed Breeds
"Brought our 14-week-old puppy for a first swim and the staff were amazing. So gentle and patient. She loved it and now we go every fortnight."
Amy L.
Miniature Dachshund, 14 weeks
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Frequently Asked Questions
Will someone be in the water with my puppy?
You can swim with your puppy in our Owner In Pool sessions (£35), or choose a Swim Coach session (£40) where a trained team member guides your puppy in the water.
Why should I start my puppy swimming early?
Puppies introduced to water between 12 weeks and 6 months develop lifelong water confidence. Early swimming also provides excellent exercise for growing muscles without the joint impact of running.
Do you provide life jackets for puppies?
Yes — we have life jackets in all sizes, including extra-small for toy breeds. We'll fit one on your puppy if needed to provide extra buoyancy and confidence.
What breeds take to swimming best as puppies?
Water breeds like Labradors and Spaniels often take to it naturally, but we've successfully introduced every breed imaginable. Even breeds not known for swimming — Bulldogs, Dachshunds, Greyhounds — can learn to love it with gentle introduction.
How long should a puppy's first swim be?
We keep first swims short — often 10–15 minutes of actual water time inside the 30-minute slot. Puppies from Haydock tire faster than adult dogs; we always err on the gentle side.
Can I bring multiple puppies from the same litter?
Yes — our Owner In Pool sessions allow up to 4 dogs. Litter mates often love swimming together and it's great for socialisation in a controlled, safe environment.
Do Merseyside vets recommend puppy swimming?
Many vets across Merseyside recommend early water introduction. Swimming builds fitness, confidence, and is excellent for large breed puppies who need to limit impact exercise during growth.
