DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?
The Issues Tockholes Dog Owners Talk to Us About
Stiff Joints & Slowing Down
Older dogs in Tockholes often slow down because walks hurt their joints. Swimming gives them exercise without the pain.
Hot Weather Exercise Limits
Summer heat makes exercising dogs from Tockholes risky. Our temperature-controlled indoor pool is safe and comfortable in any weather.
Post-Surgery Blues
Recovering dogs need to rebuild muscle, but too much walking risks re-injury. Swimming is the vet-recommended solution.
Sound familiar? Swimming solves all of these — safely and enjoyably.

What a Typical Session Looks Like for a Tockholes Dog
You arrive at our Bretherton site after a 20-minute drive from Tockholes, park metres from the pool door, and we'll meet you and your dog at reception. New dogs get a short, calm introduction to the pool environment before anything else happens.
Once your dog is comfortable, we walk them down the gentle ramp into 28–32°C water. The full 30 minutes belongs to your dog — no shared sessions, no clock-watching. We finish with a towel-off, a debrief, and you're on your way.
Crystal-Clear Water
Our water is continuously filtered and treated to the highest standards. No mud, no algae, no hidden hazards.
Full-Body Workout
Swimming engages every major muscle group simultaneously. 30 minutes in the pool equals 90 minutes of walking.
Gentle Ramp Entry
Dogs enter via a gradual ramp — no jumping required. Perfect for nervous first-timers and dogs with mobility issues.

YOUR QUESTIONS
Concerns? Let Us Put Your Mind at Rest
"What if my dog doesn't like it?"
In our experience, the vast majority of dogs take to our warm pool quickly. We never force dogs into the water — they enter at their own pace via a gentle ramp. The warm temperature makes it inviting rather than intimidating.
"How do I know which session type is right?"
Owner In Pool if you want to swim with your dog. Group Classes for social, confident dogs. Swim Coach for nervous dogs, rehabilitation, or therapeutic sessions. Weighty Woofers for weight management. We're happy to recommend — just ask.
"What if my dog has health issues?"
We cater for all conditions — arthritis, hip dysplasia, obesity, post-surgery recovery, and more. We'll ask about your dog's health before their first session and tailor everything accordingly. We welcome vet referrals too.
"Can my dog swim if they're on medication?"
Usually yes — but always mention any medication when booking. Some medications may need timing adjustments around swimming. We'll check with you and advise accordingly.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Your Tockholes Swimming Questions, Answered
What's the difference between Swim Coach and Owner In Pool?
In Owner In Pool sessions, you get in the water with your dog. In Swim Coach sessions, one of our trained team members is in the pool guiding your dog — ideal for rehabilitation, nervous dogs, or when you'd rather watch from poolside.
Will my dog be the only one in the pool?
Yes. Every session is fully private. Your Tockholes dog never meets another dog during their swim, which is why we're a popular choice for reactive or anxious dogs.
Do you cater for older dogs from Tockholes?
Older dogs often benefit the most from swimming. The warm water eases stiff joints and the buoyancy means they can exercise without pain. We've had dogs well into their teens swimming with us regularly.
Can I swim with my dog?
Absolutely! Our Owner In Pool sessions let you get in the water with your dog. It's a fantastic bonding experience. Just bring your swimwear and a towel — we supply everything else.
How long is each swimming session?
Sessions are 30 minutes of pool time. We recommend arriving 10 minutes early for your first visit so we can complete a quick health assessment.
Is there anything to do near the pool while we're in Tockholes?
We're rurally placed near Blackburn, with quiet lanes and farmland walks within a few minutes. Some owners turn a session into a half-day out with their dog.
Do you accept dogs with disabilities?
Yes — we welcome dogs with physical disabilities, amputations, and mobility challenges. Swimming is often the best exercise for these dogs because water supports their body and allows free movement.
