WHY DOGS NEED MORE

Hidden Limits of Exercise for Whitley Dogs

Bored & Under-Exercised

A tired dog is a happy dog. If your Whitley pup is destructive, anxious, or pulling on walks, they're probably not getting enough exercise.

Nowhere Safe to Swim

Rivers and lakes near Whitley can be dangerous — strong currents, blue-green algae, hidden debris. Your dog deserves a safe, controlled environment.

Separation Anxiety

Dogs who don't burn enough energy develop anxiety. A 30-minute swim leaves dogs calm, content, and ready to relax at home.

Sound familiar? Swimming solves all of these — safely and enjoyably.

COMMON CONCERNS

Concerns? Let Us Put Your Mind at Rest

"Is the pool big enough for large breeds?"

Absolutely. We welcome everything from Chihuahuas to Great Danes. The pool has adjustable depths and ample space for even the largest breeds to swim comfortably.

"Can I bring more than one dog from Whitley?"

Yes! Our Owner In Pool sessions welcome up to 4 dogs. Multi-dog households from Whitley love bringing all their dogs for a group swim. Same price per session regardless of dog numbers.

"What if my dog can't swim at all?"

Many dogs who visit us have never swum before — that's perfectly fine. We use life jackets, gradual ramp entry, and gentle encouragement. Swimming is a natural instinct for most dogs; they just need the right introduction.

"Is it suitable for rescue dogs?"

We've helped dozens of rescue dogs build water confidence. Our private, calm environment is ideal for dogs who may be nervous or have unknown histories. We go at their pace, with patience and kindness.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Your Whitley Swimming Questions, Answered

Are there any dogs you can't accept?

We welcome all breeds and ages from 12 weeks. Dogs must be up to date on vaccinations. Dogs with open wounds, infectious conditions, or severe uncontrolled aggression may need to wait or have a vet consultation first.

Do I need a vet referral?

No referral is needed for general swimming sessions. However, if your dog has a specific medical condition, we recommend consulting your vet first. Many vets across Cheshire actively refer to us.

Do I need to bring anything for my dog's swim?

Just your dog and a towel! We provide life jackets, toys, and everything else needed. We also have a drying area on site so your dog can dry off before the journey home to Whitley.

Are there any health conditions that prevent swimming?

Dogs with open wounds, active skin infections, untreated ear infections, or uncontrolled seizures should not swim until cleared by a vet. We're happy to advise if you're unsure about your dog's suitability.

What happens if my dog doesn't want to swim?

No dog is ever forced into the water. If your dog isn't ready, we let them explore poolside and build confidence at their own pace. Most dogs swim happily within their first or second visit.

Do you have changing facilities?

We have a drying area for dogs and space for you to change if you've been in the pool during an Owner In Pool session. We also have towels available.

Do you accept dogs with disabilities?

Yes — we welcome dogs with physical disabilities, amputations, and mobility challenges. Swimming is often the best exercise for these dogs because water supports their body and allows free movement.
