WHY DOGS NEED MORE
Problems Swimming Solves for Whitley Dogs
Reduced Life Expectancy
Overweight dogs live on average 2 years less. Starting a swimming programme now can add healthy, active years to your dog's life.
Lost Enthusiasm for Walks
If your dog has stopped enjoying walks, pain from excess weight is likely the cause. Swimming removes that pain and makes exercise enjoyable again.
Joints Under Strain
Every extra kilo puts 4x more force on your dog's joints. Walking an overweight dog can actually cause more harm — swimming removes that strain entirely.
Expensive vet bills and medication only manage symptoms. Swimming addresses the root cause.

Why Free Weigh-Ins Matter More Than They Sound
Most Whitley owners genuinely don't know what their dog weighs week to week — vet scales are an occasional snapshot, home scales rarely cooperate with a wriggling dog. Free weigh-ins at every Weighty Woofers session give you a real trendline, not a vibe.
That data does two things: it keeps everyone honest about diet, and it lets us tune sessions as fitness improves. An overweight dog from Whitley who's now down 4kg needs a different session than they did at the start, and we adjust accordingly.
Tailored Intensity
We adjust each session to your dog's current fitness level and gradually increase intensity as they get fitter and lighter.
Measurable Results
With regular sessions and dietary adjustments, most dogs show measurable weight loss within 3–4 weeks.
Free Weigh-Ins
Every Weighty Woofers session includes a free weigh-in so you can track progress and celebrate milestones.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS
What Whitley Dog Owners Want to Know
"Is it really better than outdoor swimming?"
Night and day. Our pool is heated to 28–32°C, filtered and treated for hygiene, has no currents or hidden hazards, and is available all year round regardless of weather. Plus it's completely private — no other dogs to stress yours.
"Is one session enough to see results?"
Most dogs show visible improvement in mood and energy after just one session. For therapeutic or weight-loss goals, we recommend weekly sessions for 6–8 weeks to see transformative results.
"What if my Whitley dog hates exercise because of their weight?"
That's the whole reason swimming works. On land, exercise hurts because joints carry extra weight. In water, that pain disappears — and dogs who 'hate' walks often genuinely love swimming.
"Can I get in the pool with my dog?"
Yes! Our Owner In Pool sessions let you swim alongside your dog. It's a bonding experience like no other. We provide everything you need — just bring your swimwear and a towel.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Got Questions? We've Got Answers
Do I have to be in the pool with my overweight dog?
Not at all. Our Swim Coach session puts one of our team in the water so you can watch from poolside — ideal if you'd rather not get changed every visit from Whitley.
Is swimming better than walking for overweight dogs?
Far better. Walking puts 4x extra force on joints for every extra kilo — so overweight dogs walking are actually damaging their joints. Swimming removes that impact entirely while burning far more calories.
Will my dog actually enjoy this if they're not a swimmer?
Almost every overweight dog from Whitley becomes a willing swimmer within 2–3 sessions. The water removes the joint pain that's been making movement miserable on land.
What breeds are most prone to weight gain?
Labradors, Beagles, Cocker Spaniels, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Pugs, and Dachshunds are particularly prone. But any breed can gain weight — and any breed benefits from our swimming programme.
Is the Weighty Woofers programme supervised?
You can choose Owner In Pool (you swim with your dog) or Swim Coach (our team member guides your dog). For weight loss, Swim Coach is recommended as we can control exercise intensity more precisely.
Realistically, how much weight can my dog lose?
Combined with diet, dogs from Whitley typically lose 0.5–1% of body weight per week safely. We've helped some lose 20%+ of starting weight over a structured 12-week block.
My vet says my dog needs to lose weight — can you help?
Absolutely. Our Weighty Woofers programme is designed for exactly this. Many vets across Cheshire recommend us as the exercise component of their weight management plans.
