COMMON CONCERNS
Why Adlington Dog Owners Are Choosing Swimming
Exercise Makes Things Worse
Overweight dogs who walk too much damage their joints. It's a cruel catch-22 — they need exercise but can't exercise safely on land. Swimming solves this.
Low Energy & Lethargy
Overweight dogs in Adlington often seem lazy, but they're actually in pain. Once they start swimming and losing weight, their energy returns dramatically.
Reduced Life Expectancy
Overweight dogs live on average 2 years less. Starting a swimming programme now can add healthy, active years to your dog's life.
Expensive vet bills and medication only manage symptoms. Swimming addresses the root cause.

FOR ADLINGTON DOGS
The Weighty Woofers Programme
Our dedicated Weighty Woofers programme is designed specifically for dogs who need to shed excess weight. Each session includes a weigh-in, a tailored swimming session, and progress tracking. The water's buoyancy means your dog can exercise intensely without the joint damage that comes from running or walking while overweight.
A 30-minute swim burns the same calories as a 90-minute walk — but without any impact on joints. For overweight dogs, this is critical. Excess weight already puts enormous strain on joints, ligaments, and the cardiovascular system. Swimming removes that strain entirely while providing a full-body workout.
Cardiovascular Health
Overweight dogs have cardiovascular strain. Swimming strengthens the heart and lungs while being gentle on the body.
Free Weigh-Ins
Every Weighty Woofers session includes a free weigh-in so you can track progress and celebrate milestones.
Extended Lifespan
Overweight dogs live on average 2 years less than healthy-weight dogs. Our programme can add healthy, active years to your dog's life.

WHY DOG OWNERS VISIT US
What Adlington Dog Owners Come to Us For
Exercise Your Dog Can't Do on Land
Dogs too heavy for comfortable walking can swim happily for 30 minutes. Water supports 90% of their body weight.
Combined Weight & Joint Care
Overweight dogs often develop joint problems. Swimming addresses both simultaneously — losing weight while protecting joints.
Senior Overweight Dogs
Older dogs carrying extra weight face compounded health problems. Our pool addresses weight and age-related issues together.
Metabolic Boost
Swimming builds lean muscle mass, which increases your dog's metabolism. They burn more calories even at rest.
Breed-Specific Weight Management
Labs, Beagles, and Spaniels are genetically predisposed to weight gain. Swimming keeps them in shape without joint strain.
The Best Weight Loss Exercise Near Adlington
Walking an overweight dog can damage joints — every extra kilo creates 4x more force on impact. Swimming removes this entirely. Just 15 minutes from Adlington, our pool provides the safest, most effective exercise for weight loss.

GOOD TO KNOW
Honest Answers to Adlington Owners' Real Questions
"What happens if my dog has an accident in the pool?"
It happens and it's not a problem! Our filtration system handles it quickly and we're well prepared. We ask that dogs are walked before sessions and we recommend not feeding them within 2 hours of swimming.
"Is it really better than outdoor swimming?"
Night and day. Our pool is heated to 28–32°C, filtered and treated for hygiene, has no currents or hidden hazards, and is available all year round regardless of weather. Plus it's completely private — no other dogs to stress yours.
"Do you offer discounts for regular swimmers from Adlington?"
Yes — we offer multi-session packages at a discount for regular swimmers. Ask about our package deals when you book. Many Adlington dog owners find monthly packages the best value.
"What if my dog doesn't like it?"
In our experience, the vast majority of dogs take to our warm pool quickly. We never force dogs into the water — they enter at their own pace via a gentle ramp. The warm temperature makes it inviting rather than intimidating.
WHAT DOG OWNERS SAY

Mark P.
Border Collie, 6 years
"We've been coming from Adlington for six months now. Our overweight pug has lost 2kg and gained so much energy. The team here really know their stuff."
Lucy & Ben A.

"Brilliant for our working cocker who does agility. The swimming keeps her fit, builds strength in muscle groups that agility alone doesn't work, and she adores it."

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Your Adlington Swimming Questions, Answered
Will my overweight dog be able to swim?
Yes! Overweight dogs often take to swimming brilliantly because the water supports their weight and makes movement easy and enjoyable. Many dogs who can barely walk a mile can swim happily for 30 minutes.
Can my dog still enjoy swimming even though it's for weight loss?
Dogs love our pool! Weighty Woofers sessions are fun — your dog won't know they're exercising for health reasons. They'll just know they had a brilliant time in warm water.
How much weight can my dog lose through swimming?
Results vary by breed and starting weight, but we regularly see dogs lose 1–2kg per month with weekly sessions combined with diet management. Some dogs have lost over 5kg in our programme.
Can my dog lose weight just by swimming without changing diet?
Swimming alone will help, but the best results come from combining regular swimming with dietary adjustments recommended by your vet. We focus on the exercise side — your vet handles nutrition.
How far is Weighty Woofers from Adlington?
We're just 15 minutes from Adlington. Our Weighty Woofers programme at £40 per session includes a free weigh-in and tailored swimming — outstanding value compared to vet-led weight programmes.
Do you track my dog's weight?
Yes — every Weighty Woofers session includes a free weigh-in. We track progress over time and celebrate milestones. You'll see measurable results in your dog's weight and body condition.
Will my dog actually enjoy this if they're not a swimmer?
Almost every overweight dog from Adlington becomes a willing swimmer within 2–3 sessions. The water removes the joint pain that's been making movement miserable on land.
