COMMON CONCERNS
Sound Familiar? Goodshaw Dogs Deserve Better
Ageing Without Support
Senior dogs in Goodshaw deserve better than shortened walks and a life on the sofa. Swimming keeps them mobile, engaged, and comfortable.
Post-Surgery Blues
Recovering dogs need to rebuild muscle, but too much walking risks re-injury. Swimming is the vet-recommended solution.
Nowhere Safe to Swim
Rivers and lakes near Goodshaw can be dangerous — strong currents, blue-green algae, hidden debris. Your dog deserves a safe, controlled environment.
Sound familiar? Swimming solves all of these — safely and enjoyably.

FOR GOODSHAW DOGS
How Often Should Your Goodshaw Dog Swim?
Most dogs from Goodshaw settle into a weekly or fortnightly rhythm. Hydrotherapy and Weighty Woofers cases lean weekly. Fitness and fun-focused regulars often run fortnightly. There's no single right answer — only what fits your dog and your schedule.
The biggest mistake is treating swimming as a one-off treat. Real benefits — muscle, weight loss, joint comfort, behaviour — build with consistency, not intensity. A regular Goodshaw swimmer outpaces an occasional one every time.

Every session is supervised by our experienced team who know dogs, understand behaviour, and prioritise safety.

YOUR QUESTIONS
Honest Answers to Goodshaw Owners' Real Questions
"What if my dog has health issues?"
We cater for all conditions — arthritis, hip dysplasia, obesity, post-surgery recovery, and more. We'll ask about your dog's health before their first session and tailor everything accordingly. We welcome vet referrals too.
"What happens if my dog has an accident in the pool?"
It happens and it's not a problem! Our filtration system handles it quickly and we're well prepared. We ask that dogs are walked before sessions and we recommend not feeding them within 2 hours of swimming.
"What if my dog is scared of water?"
We specialise in nervous swimmers. Our gentle ramp entry lets dogs walk in at their own pace, the warm water is inviting rather than shocking, and our experienced team has helped hundreds of first-timers. Most dogs are swimming happily by the end of session one.
"Is it suitable for rescue dogs?"
We've helped dozens of rescue dogs build water confidence. Our private, calm environment is ideal for dogs who may be nervous or have unknown histories. We go at their pace, with patience and kindness.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Got Questions? We've Got Answers
What's the difference between Swim Coach and Owner In Pool?
In Owner In Pool sessions, you get in the water with your dog. In Swim Coach sessions, one of our trained team members is in the pool guiding your dog — ideal for rehabilitation, nervous dogs, or when you'd rather watch from poolside.
Can my dog swim if they've been neutered recently?
We recommend waiting at least 14 days after suture removal and getting the all-clear from your vet before swimming. The wound must be fully healed before entering the pool.
Do you have experience with large breeds?
We regularly swim Great Danes, Newfoundlands, Irish Wolfhounds, and other giant breeds. Our pool is designed to accommodate dogs of all sizes with plenty of room to move.
Is swimming suitable for all dog breeds?
Yes — from tiny Chihuahuas to giant Great Danes, we cater for every breed. We adjust pool depth and use life jackets for brachycephalic breeds like French Bulldogs and Pugs.
What if my dog is nervous about water?
We specialise in nervous swimmers. Our gentle ramp lets dogs walk in at their own pace, the warm water is inviting rather than shocking, and our team has helped hundreds of first-timers. Most dogs swim confidently by session one or two.
Can I watch my dog swim?
Absolutely. You can watch from poolside during Swim Coach sessions, or jump in yourself during Owner In Pool sessions. Many Goodshaw owners love watching their dog's progress from week to week.
Are there any dogs you can't accept?
We welcome all breeds and ages from 12 weeks. Dogs must be up to date on vaccinations. Dogs with open wounds, infectious conditions, or severe uncontrolled aggression may need to wait or have a vet consultation first.
