IS YOUR DOG STRUGGLING?
Why Walks Alone Aren't Enough for Mitton Dogs
Breed-Specific Exercise Needs
Working breeds, sporting dogs, and high-energy breeds in Mitton need more than standard walks. Swimming provides the intensity they crave.
Cold Weather Stops Play
When Mitton weather turns cold and wet, outdoor exercise drops off. Our heated indoor pool means fitness never stops.
Repetitive Exercise Injuries
Dogs who only walk or run develop overuse injuries. Swimming provides cross-training that builds balanced strength and prevents strain.
Sound familiar? Swimming solves all of these — safely and enjoyably.

OUR POOL
What a Typical Session Looks Like for a Mitton Dog
You arrive at our Bretherton site after a 25-minute drive from Mitton, park metres from the pool door, and we'll meet you and your dog at reception. New dogs get a short, calm introduction to the pool environment before anything else happens.
Once your dog is comfortable, we walk them down the gentle ramp into 28–32°C water. The full 30 minutes belongs to your dog — no shared sessions, no clock-watching. We finish with a towel-off, a debrief, and you're on your way.
All Breeds Welcome
From tiny Chihuahuas to giant Great Danes, we cater for every breed with adjustable depths and gentle ramp entry.
Crystal-Clear Water
Our water is continuously filtered and treated to the highest standards. No mud, no algae, no hidden hazards.
Free Parking On Site
Pull up right next to the pool entrance at Pompian Brow Farm. No parking charges, no long walks from the car.

WHY DOG OWNERS VISIT US
What Mitton Dog Owners Come to Us For
Managing Reactive Dog Exercise
Dogs who can't be around other dogs still need exercise. Our completely private sessions mean zero encounters with other animals.
Complementing Training Programmes
Dog trainers recommend swimming alongside behaviour work. A well-exercised dog is more focused and receptive to training.
Better Sleep and Behaviour
A 30-minute swim leaves dogs mentally and physically satisfied. Owners report better behaviour, better sleep, and a calmer home.
A Proper Workout for High-Energy Dogs
Walks aren't enough for some breeds. Swimming burns 5x the calories in half the time — your dog comes home genuinely tired.
Post-Walk Cool Down
Some owners combine a walk in the countryside with a swim session — the ultimate exercise day for their dog.
What Makes Us Different for Mitton Dog Owners
We're not a grooming salon that happens to have a pool. We're specialist dog swimming professionals. Every aspect of our facility — the water temperature, the ramp entry, the filtration, the session structure — is optimised for your dog's health and enjoyment.

YOUR QUESTIONS
Concerns? Let Us Put Your Mind at Rest
"Is it worth the drive from Mitton?"
At just 25 minutes, most Mitton dog owners tell us the drive flies by. Free parking on site, and your dog gets a full 30-minute session in facilities you simply won't find closer.
"Is swimming tiring for dogs?"
Very! 30 minutes of swimming is equivalent to about 90 minutes of walking in terms of energy expenditure. Most dogs sleep soundly on the drive home to Mitton and are calm all evening.
"Is the water clean and safe?"
Our water is continuously filtered and treated to exceed hygiene standards. It's crystal-clear at all times — far cleaner and safer than any river, lake, or outdoor dog pool you'll find near Mitton.
"Do you offer discounts for regular swimmers from Mitton?"
Yes — we offer multi-session packages at a discount for regular swimmers. Ask about our package deals when you book. Many Mitton dog owners find monthly packages the best value.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Practical Answers for Mitton Dog Owners
Do you have experience with large breeds?
We regularly swim Great Danes, Newfoundlands, Irish Wolfhounds, and other giant breeds. Our pool is designed to accommodate dogs of all sizes with plenty of room to move.
What happens if my dog doesn't want to swim?
No dog is ever forced into the water. If your dog isn't ready, we let them explore poolside and build confidence at their own pace. Most dogs swim happily within their first or second visit.
Can I bring two dogs from the same household?
Yes — up to four dogs from the same household in an Owner In Pool session. Multi-dog Mitton families often find this the most cost-effective way to swim regularly.
What should I bring for my dog's first swim?
Just your dog and a towel — we supply everything else including life jackets and toys. If you're joining in an Owner In Pool session, bring swimwear too. We have a drying area on site.
Are there any dogs you can't accept?
We welcome all breeds and ages from 12 weeks. Dogs must be up to date on vaccinations. Dogs with open wounds, infectious conditions, or severe uncontrolled aggression may need to wait or have a vet consultation first.
What's the difference between Swim Coach and Owner In Pool?
In Owner In Pool sessions, you get in the water with your dog. In Swim Coach sessions, one of our trained team members is in the pool guiding your dog — ideal for rehabilitation, nervous dogs, or when you'd rather watch from poolside.
Is Mitton actually closer than the next nearest pool?
From most Mitton postcodes you're around 25 minutes to us via the M65. The next nearest comparable heated dog pool is materially further — and rarely as quiet or as private.
