What a Typical Session Looks Like for a Mere Dog
You arrive at our Bretherton site after a 35-minute drive from Mere, park metres from the pool door, and we'll meet you and your dog at reception. New dogs get a short, calm introduction to the pool environment before anything else happens.
Once your dog is comfortable, we walk them down the gentle ramp into 28–32°C water. The full 30 minutes belongs to your dog — no shared sessions, no clock-watching. We finish with a towel-off, a debrief, and you're on your way.

From 12-week-old puppies (after second vaccination) to senior dogs of any age. We adjust every session to your dog's ability. Some of our most enthusiastic swimmers are well into their teens!
"Is the pool big enough for large breeds?"
Absolutely. We welcome everything from Chihuahuas to Great Danes. The pool has adjustable depths and ample space for even the largest breeds to swim comfortably.
"Do you offer discounts for regular swimmers from Mere?"
Yes — we offer multi-session packages at a discount for regular swimmers. Ask about our package deals when you book. Many Mere dog owners find monthly packages the best value.
"Is one session enough to see results?"

We specialise in nervous swimmers. Our gentle ramp lets dogs walk in at their own pace, the warm water is inviting rather than shocking, and our team has helped hundreds of first-timers. Most dogs swim confidently by session one or two.
Are there any health conditions that prevent swimming?
Dogs with open wounds, active skin infections, untreated ear infections, or uncontrolled seizures should not swim until cleared by a vet. We're happy to advise if you're unsure about your dog's suitability.
Do you cater for older dogs from Mere?
Older dogs often benefit the most from swimming. The warm water eases stiff joints and the buoyancy means they can exercise without pain. We've had dogs well into their teens swimming with us regularly.
Is the pool suitable for puppies from Mere?
Yes! We accept puppies from 12 weeks old, after their second vaccination. Our gentle ramp entry and warm water make it the perfect environment for a puppy's first swim.
Do you have changing facilities?
We have a drying area for dogs and space for you to change if you've been in the pool during an Owner In Pool session. We also have towels available.
Will my dog be the only one in the pool?
Yes. Every session is fully private. Your Mere dog never meets another dog during their swim, which is why we're a popular choice for reactive or anxious dogs.
How wet will my car be on the way back to Mere?
Hardly at all. We have a dedicated drying area on site and most dogs are touch-dry before they leave. Bring a towel for the back seat just in case.
