DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

Why Walks Alone Aren't Enough for Fence Dogs

Bored & Under-Exercised

A tired dog is a happy dog. If your Fence pup is destructive, anxious, or pulling on walks, they're probably not getting enough exercise.

Behavioural Problems at Home

Chewing, barking, digging — these are often signs of under-exercise. Dogs from Fence who swim regularly are calmer and better behaved.

Nowhere Safe to Swim

Rivers and lakes near Fence can be dangerous — strong currents, blue-green algae, hidden debris. Your dog deserves a safe, controlled environment.

Expensive vet bills and medication only manage symptoms. Swimming addresses the root cause.

OUR POOL

Why Fence Owners Drive Past Other Pools to Reach Us

There are larger pools elsewhere in Lancashire, and some that are closer to certain parts of Fence. What brings owners to Bretherton is the combination — purpose-built for dogs, properly heated, genuinely private, and run by people who know each regular's dog by name.

Once you've experienced a fully private, fully focused 30-minute session, shared or rushed alternatives feel like a step backwards. That's the most common piece of feedback we get from Fence dog owners who tried elsewhere first.

Zero Joint Impact

Water supports 90% of body weight, making swimming the safest form of exercise for dogs of all ages and conditions.

Heated to 28–32°C

Our pool maintains a therapeutic temperature all year round — warm, clean, and comfortable for every breed and age.

Free Parking On Site

Pull up right next to the pool entrance at Pompian Brow Farm. No parking charges, no long walks from the car.

Spaces Fill Fast for Evenings & Weekends From Fence

YOUR QUESTIONS

Before You Visit — Your Questions Answered

"Can my dog swim if they're on medication?"

Usually yes — but always mention any medication when booking. Some medications may need timing adjustments around swimming. We'll check with you and advise accordingly.

"Is the pool big enough for large breeds?"

Absolutely. We welcome everything from Chihuahuas to Great Danes. The pool has adjustable depths and ample space for even the largest breeds to swim comfortably.

"Is swimming tiring for dogs?"

Very! 30 minutes of swimming is equivalent to about 90 minutes of walking in terms of energy expenditure. Most dogs sleep soundly on the drive home to Fence and are calm all evening.

"Is one session enough to see results?"

Most dogs show visible improvement in mood and energy after just one session. For therapeutic or weight-loss goals, we recommend weekly sessions for 6–8 weeks to see transformative results.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Fence Dog Swimming — Your Questions Answered

Can I bring two dogs from the same household?

Yes — up to four dogs from the same household in an Owner In Pool session. Multi-dog Fence families often find this the most cost-effective way to swim regularly.

How often should my dog swim?

For general fitness, once a week is brilliant. For weight loss or rehabilitation, twice a week is recommended. Even fortnightly sessions make a noticeable difference.

Do you offer group sessions for dogs from Fence?

Yes! Our Group Classes at £35 per session are great for socialised dogs. You can bring up to 4 dogs in an Owner In Pool session too — perfect for multi-dog households in Fence.

Do I need a vet referral?

No referral is needed for general swimming sessions. However, if your dog has a specific medical condition, we recommend consulting your vet first. Many vets across Lancashire actively refer to us.

Do you have changing facilities?

We have a drying area for dogs and space for you to change if you've been in the pool during an Owner In Pool session. We also have towels available.

Is the pool chlorinated?

We use a professional water treatment system that keeps the water crystal-clear and hygienic without harsh chemical smells. Our system is far gentler on dogs' skin and eyes than traditional chlorinated pools.

Are there any health conditions that prevent swimming?

Dogs with open wounds, active skin infections, untreated ear infections, or uncontrolled seizures should not swim until cleared by a vet. We're happy to advise if you're unsure about your dog's suitability.
